In getting ready to do SEO work for my site, I decided to look around and see where I am currently being linked from. Imagine my surprise to discover that I have some leaks in the bandwidth.
One that amuses me the most is to a website that is for work at home moms where a lady named Carrie has posted a brief article on how you don't have to give credit back to the original author when you use ghost written material. Choosing a pretty in pink lady to illustrate her subject she hotlinked back to my website rather than host it on her own website: naturalmomstalkradio.com
Isn't that nice of her. Make me pay more for my bandwidth and not even give me a link back to my website on the blog high traffic blog that she posted it on.
I'm not amused. I'm looking through information on bandwidth theft and preparing to replace images like that, that offer no return traffic for the bandwidth they are stealing from me, with images like this:

and this...

I've made a new category here, SEO for Beginners. This is an entry level series of SEO fumbles that will follow my getting this website and others up and out there. Each website will have it's own subcategory so you can see what I am doing with each of them in their stumbling forward efforts to get out there and noticed by those search engines.
So, follow along and see what I am up to with my sites. It might be educational, I just can't say it it'll end up being a lesson in "how to get a PR 10 site in 10 days" or in "what not to do". lol
I'm working on getting my website back out there and promoted, so I'll be doing a lot more SEO which means more SEO information to talk about. Right now I am looking around at a lot of different ideas but contemplating how they would effect my ranking before I leap in and find out there's polar bears in the water with me.
I did go out and sign on with FuelMyBlog, I'll let you know if I notice any major changes in visitors as a result. Which reminds me, it's been a while since I checked my site stats - I should go do that before I do a lot of promoting, huh?
I was going to double check the stats at WhoLinksToMe to see just what they say about Phantascene.com's links as opposed to Alexa claiming there are only 6 links to Phantascene.com, unfortunately when I went over there to look I find this:
We're Sorry - WhoLinksToMe is down due to a primary hard-disk failure
We should be back online by 3/12/07. Thank you for your patience!
Ooops. Somebunny bwoke WhoLinksToMe.
They are worth checking out though, after the 12th, for anyone that has a bog or website and wants to know what their link traffic looks like. They tell you what Yahoo, Alexa, MSN, Google and others are seeing as your site's inbound links and can also tell you your Alexa score and Google Page Rank. It's one stop shopping for SEO enthusiasts.
I am looking into information on link exchange sites and other ways to get out information on my website and blogs.
